Some engagement sessions are just about photos. And some turn into an experience you’ll always remember, this one was absolutely the second. McKenna & Michael’s Destination Engagement Session in Tennessee was built around travel, planning, and spending real time together before the wedding day. We headed to Nashville and Franklin with their planner for venue walkthroughs. Planning meetings, and a weekend that felt slow, thoughtful, and really connected. Their engagement photos became part of the bigger picture instead of a standalone moment. And that’s exactly what made it so special!

A Destination Engagement Session That Felt Intentional, Not Rushed

What I loved most about this Destination Engagement Session was how natural everything felt. We weren’t racing the clock or squeezing photos in between obligations. We had space to explore, talk, and let things unfold organically. Spending time together over multiple days changes the entire dynamic in the best way. By the time we picked up the camera, McKenna & Michael were fully relaxed, comfortable, and just being themselves. That ease always translates into photos that feel real and effortless, and it also sets the tone for the wedding day experience later on.

Seeing the Wedding Day Come Together Before It Even Happens

Getting to tag along with their planner and be part of venue walkthroughs and planning conversations was such a cool bonus of this trip. Seeing things from the planner side gave me a deeper understanding of how their day is being intentionally built. From flow and timing to how each moment is meant to feel. Their wedding will take place at Ravenswood Mansion, and after spending time there, it’s easy to see why they chose it! This kind of behind-the-scenes time during a Destination Engagement Session makes the wedding day feel familiar before it even arrives, which is something I truly value as a photographer.
