A Grand Galvez Galveston Wedding | Calista & Ivan

Calista and Ivan’s wedding at The Grand Galvez in Galveston, Texas was so beautiful. Calista is actually the best friend of one of my past brides, Kathryn! Check out their “Sacred Heart Church Wedding in Galveston, Texas“. It’s such an honor to have friends hire me for their weddings. It’s such a benefit because there’s already familiarity. This wedding was giving a modern take on vintage Galveston, and I loved their look!

Calista said for their wedding day, her main focus was for everything to seem timeless. From the flowers to the black and white décor to the hotel. She aimed to make it seem like their wedding could take place in any time period. I think they did a phenomenal job at this. It was beautiful! Calista and Ivan wanted their love and their families to remain at the center of the day. They also put their own twist on cultural traditions that still made sense with their aesthetic. Overall this Galveston wedding was perfect!

Getting Ready With Calista

I loved capturing Calista getting ready for her Galveston wedding with her mom and closest friends! It’s always so sweet to capture those moments between mothers and daughters, and to also see a great group of friends interacting with one another and being so supportive of the bride!

Sweet First Looks at The Grand Galvez

Ivan and Calista’s first looks at The Grand Galvez were just so sweet. These two have so much love for each other, and these moments were so beautiful. Ivan and Calista are high school sweethearts who met in chemistry class during their sophomore year. They did long distance all throughout college and feel as though they truly grew up together and while they are different people than they were at 15, their love is still stronger then ever. When you look at these photos, you can truly feel that love.

A Beautiful Grand Galvez Galveston Wedding Ceremony

The Grand Galvez has a beautiful outdoor ceremony space known as The Centennial Green. The sunset was perfect, their décor was minimal as you don’t need much with a beautiful setting like this. It offers views of the Gulf and such a stunning pergola as the backdrop. When I asked Calista about any special moments from their wedding day, she said this:

“I’d say for the both of us, our favorite moment of the day was our ceremony. Our officiant was absolutely
incredible. The way he was able to tell our story and incorporate so many of our family members and friends into the ceremony was just amazing. Even though there were 200+ people in attendance it felt like it was just us two he was speaking to. When I walked down the aisle it was so surreal to see the man I was about to marry waiting for me at the end of it. All stress melted away and I just couldn’t wait to be married!”

Ivan and Calista had such a great wedding party! They were all full of the best energy for the couple, and I really loved the beautiful green bridesmaids dresses and how the color schemes came together perfectly for this Galveston wedding!

The Grand Galvez makes for such a beautiful backdrop for portraits. From their checkered floors, stunning architecture, hanging chandeliers, and such a beautiful staircase! All of the intricate detailing throughout the venue is stunning, and I loved capturing Ivan and Calista against this venue!

A Beautiful & Fun Grand Galvez Galveston Wedding Reception

Ivan and Calisa’s Grand Galvez Galveston wedding reception was not only so beautiful, but it was so much fun! Both Calisa and Ivan are big on their family and friends, and they wanted to make sure that everyone had a great time – and that they did! The dance floor was full all night long, and these two definitely knew how to party it up and celebrate with their friends and family! And can we take a moment for Calisa’s dress change? She looked gorgeous, and I loved stepping away for some reception portraits of the two!

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Adams! It has been the biggest honor for the Aly Matei Photography Team to serve you and be a part of your special day! This wedding was beautiful and full of the best energy! I wish you both so much happiness as you start your journey as a married couple!
