The Houstonian Hotel Wedding

The Houstonian Hotel wedding, all white bridesmaids dresses and a reception at Brennans in Houston, Texas- MAGICAL! Madi and Josh wanted their family and friends to live on the dance floor. And, they did! Madi and Josh wanted to embrace the fact that even though they were getting married during a pandemic, they day was still going to be love-filled and magical. And it was! Josh and Madi have been through so much together they wanted the day to highlight how they felt for each other. Celebrating the gift of love and marriage is exactly what these two did. With a vision for a traditional, Southern wedding, the bridesmaids wore long, white dresses. The theme carried on with classic and neutral color scheme of white, ivory, greenery, and touches of gold. A custom monogram that was everywhere and anywhere from the invitations to the dance floor was the cherry on top.

Getting Ready inside The Houstonian Hotel

Madi’s wedding day was perfect from start to finish. She and her bridesmaids enjoyed a fun morning filled with face masks, laughter and worship music to calm her nerves. It was so special that she was able to include her mom and grandmother and  Josh’s mom and nieces. Madi and Josh were able to each have their own private moments reading the love letters they wrote to each other.

First Look on the Lawn at The Houstonian Hotel

After Madi shared a first look with her father, the moment had finally arrived for Josh and Madi to see each other for the first time on their wedding day. Madi said she had had the biggest butterflies in her chest and she just couldn’t stop giggling. That first hug and kiss and seeing each other all dressed was a moment neither will forget.

The Bridal Party

Black tuxes and a bridal party in all white bridesmaids dresses brings a new meaning to the word classic. It was absolutely stunning! Throw in an all white bouquet and you achieve perfection. We had the best time on the lawn at The Houstonian Hotel capturing sweet moments with Madi and Josh who were surrounded by so much love and joy from their friends.

The Ceremony Inside The Houstonian Hotel Wedding

Madi and Josh wanted their ceremony to be rooted in their faith and Christian beliefs. Josh’s youth mentor from his church was the officiant. He made their ceremony so very personal! It was all about their relationship and love for one other. It meant so much to Madi that Josh had tears in his eyes when she walked down the aisle with her dad. While Josh and Madi braided three strands of rope together to symbolize the verse “a cord made from three strands is not easily broken”, Madi’s childhood friend (also her little sister from her sorority at Auburn) read from Ecclesiastes 4:9-12.

Advice From The Newlyweds

When I asked Madi and Josh if they had any advice for couples planning their weddings, you bet they did:

“Make a separate wedding email- it makes it much easier to keep track of everything! Enjoy every minute of planning, but also make an effort to have date nights where you can relax and not talk about the wedding! Remember that even if everything doesn’t go exactly as you planned or if a small detail is off, your wedding day is ultimately about the start of your marriage and lives together! Also, a dress with pockets comes in handy when you can stash tissues away for those few tears that escape throughout the night!”

The Reception at Brennans

After the first dances, sentimental toasts and an incredible meal, guests danced the night away at Brennans in Houston, Texas  I don’t think anyone left the dance floor after dinner! Madi and Josh had his and hers drinks and everything was so creative! Since their dogs couldn’t join them, they had a bar sign with a watercolor painting of their pups, Nala and Cash. His drink, “the Cash”, was a play on an Old Fashioned since Josh loves his whiskey! Her drink, “the Nala” , was a vodka, lemon, and chamboard drink that was basically the best spiked, raspberry lemonade the guest have ever had! Trust me, even the guys were throwing that pink drink back at this reception! Their drink, “the Newlyweds” was a classic margarita!

Private Last Dance

Always be sure to incorporate a private last dance! It is a moment like no other. In fact, it was Madi and Josh’s favorite moment. Madi shared:

“My favorite moment of the night was when we shared a private dance while our guests lined up for our grand exit downstairs. We decided to save our special song (the one that we’ve played at the end of fights, after a really good day, through tears, and during all of our big moments as a couple) for this moment. As we listened to Ben Rector’s, Love Like This, we both were overcome with emotion as we took in everything from the day. I’m so glad we decided to do this and recommend it to anyone getting married soon!

Madi and Josh, I absolutely adore you both and truly you both mean the world to me. As a Houston wedding photographer and your friend, I can’t thank you for trusting me to capture your magical day. It was a dream come true! Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Michael.
