Eleanor Tinsley Engagement Session
You can’t go wrong with an Eleanor Tinsley engagement session! Christen and John love the Houston skyline. They can see it from their own rooftop patio. They also wanted a downtown vibe for their session. I knew that Eleanor Tinsley Park was the perfect spot to celebrate their love for each other.
This lovely couple was referred to me be a fabulous planner, Hannah, at Loose End Event Design. I knew the moment I met them, I was in for a treat! They are so kind and genuine. As we got to know each other, Christen and I realized we are both Zeta’s, but from different universities. I just knew we had something in common! I asked what drew them to me hire me as their Houston wedding photographer. Their comments were so touching and honestly, such a compliment.
“The way you capture the little in between moments and get the really genuine pictures. I also liked that your pictures weren’t moody, but you still capture good contrast between light and dark. Your photos don’t look washed out. Especially important for me as a pale girl! My wedding is going to have lots of pops of color and I know you’ll be able to capture them beautifully.”

Houston Roots
Christen and John met in the 6th grade and actually dated in 8th grade. But, John broke up with Christen after 2 weeks and has clearly regretted it ever since! They remained friends throughout high school and both attended The University of Texas. They hung out periodically but not every weekend. After college, they both moved back to Houston and started spending weekends with their old high school friends. Christen and John finally realized they actually had a lot in common. They shared the same values, goals and dreams. One thing led to another and they officially started dating. Two and a half years later, John proposed.
A Houston Proposal
Christen absolutely loved the way John proposed. John told Christen they were going to a work dinner with his company at Brenner’s on the Bayou. Christen knew something was up when John wanted to walk to a nearby gazebo instead of walking straight into the restaurant. Christen said that would have been out of character regardless, but especially because it was raining. Once they arrived at the gazebo, John got down on one knee and proposed. Christen’s family was watching from the restaurant and came out with champagne in hand to toast the newlyweds. Christen and John shared a wonderful dinner at Brenner’s on the Bayou, just the two of them, to celebrate.
Christen and John, I cannot wait to celebrate your wedding day with you at The Peach Orchard in April. I know that all your dreams will come true as you become husband and wife. Thank you for entrusting Aly Matei Photography to capture your big day!
