Galveston Wedding Photographer

As a Houston and Galveston wedding photographer, I have to say that Aly Matei Photography has the absolute sweetest couples! I seriously have been blessed beyond measures and I do not take my responsibility as a wedding photographer lightly. When Kathryn reached out to me, I was so excited to set up a call and get to know her and Landon. I wanted to hear all about their love story and plans for their big day which I will be sharing with you in this post.

For their engagement session, they wanted a modern, romantic feel with trees and and outdoor elements.  North South Blvd. and Hermann Park in Houston seemed liked the perfect fit. Their first outfit had a more formal romantic feel which I always recommend. Their second outfit was a bit more casual which allowed us to have some fun with posing. Kathryn brought a white denim jacket with her new last name monogrammed on it so, of course, we had to capture some portraits of her wearing it. To make their session even more fun, they popped a bottle of champagne which I 10/10 recommend!

Galveston Love Story

Kathryn and Landon met at The University of Houston at a baseball Halloween party. Landon was on the baseball team and Kathryn was in a sorority.  Landon approached Kathryn and they began chatting. He asked for her Snapchat and the rest is history! These lovebirds share a multitude of mutual connections because their families are both from Galveston.  They grew up in League City but went to rival high schools. Landon’s  mom and Kathryn’s aunt were college roommates and Landon’s cousin has been Kathryn’s hairdresser for the past eight years. While they knew of each other growing up, they did not officially meet until college. They have been dating for three years and half of that time was long distance. Landon and Kathryn are very thankful to finally be back in the same city again!

Galveston Wedding Photographer Shares The Proposal Story

The proposal was a total surprise to Kathryn, which is pretty impressive because she admits she is extremely nosey. She knew it was coming soon, just did not know when. Kathryn always thought Landon would pop the question in late December or early January because he was finishing up his last CPA exam. But December 4th, on the beach in Galveston, Landon pulled off the ultimate surprise.

Landon tricked Kathryn by saying they were going to have dinner with some friends at The Porch, a restaurant in Beachtown, Galveston right near the beach. Landon walked Kathryn down on the sand “just to look at the water”. In the distance she could see the sweetest set up he had planned. Landon shared the sweetest little speech with Kathryn, then got down on one knee and popped the question! Both of their families were hiding behind the dunes and ran out to congratulate them. It was truly the most special moment of Kathryn’s entire life! Thoughtful in every single detail, Landon made this engagement so special for his bride to be.

Kathryn and Landon, you were amazing during your engagement session. Your smiles say it all!  Thank you for entrusting the AMP team to be a part of your wedding journey. I can’t wait to celebrate your big day at Sacred Heart Church and The Tremont House in November 2022!
